New Pioneer Elite VSX-92TXH Purchased

Saturday, November 17th, 2007

Well my Pioneer Elite VSX-TXH receiver is here.  For those of you who know, I’ve been running a Pioneer Elite VSX-82TXS receiver to power my Home Theater.  With my accumulation of Blu-ray movies that consist of DTS-HD Master audio, I was in need of a receiver to handle it.   Since no players currently decode DTS-HD Master audio internally, the only method to getting it is to purchase 1.) Player that will send out the audio as Bitstream and have 2.) Receiver capable of decoding it.  (more…)

Monday, September 3rd, 2007

Axiom Audio’s QS8 v2 Quadpolar Surround Sound Speakers sure is a mouthful, but does this unique design live up to the internet hype?  With a price tag of $540/pair, the Axiom QS8 v2 sure have a tempting offer to the mid range home theater enthusiast.  The QS8s use a distinct Quadpolar design which utilizes dual tweeters and woofers.  So how well do they stack up?  Check out my Axiom Audio QS8 v2 review in the Home Theater section.  After finishing up with the review, come on back here and lets discuss.

Philips Ambilight 2 47″ 1080p Flat-Panel LCD HDTV (47PFL7432D)

Sunday, August 12th, 2007

Saturday August 11, 2007, I picked up a new Philips Ambilight 2 47″ 1080p LCD (47PFL7432D) display. I was previously using the Hitachi 42″ (42HDS69) Plasma Display for watching Blu-ray and HD DVD movies. It was finally time to step up in size and having a display which did 1080p natively.

So why did I buy the Philips Ambilight 2 (47PFL7432D) LCD? How about:

  • Native 1080p display
  • LCD for gaming
  • 5ms refresh rate
  • 1:1 pixel mapping
  • ambilight 2
  • 3 HDMI inputs
  • 47″ display

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl - Blu-ray

Thursday, July 5th, 2007

The Matrix - HD-DVD

Sunday, May 27th, 2007

Well the Matrix Trilogy finally made it’s debut on May 22.  This is probably one of the most anticipated title releases to date for HD DVD.  I pre-ordered the Matrix Ultimate Edition because I wanted to get the Animatrix movies.  However these were not done in HD, which is a bit of a disappointment..
