Pioneer Elite VSX-82TXS Finally Returns Home

After being without my Pioneer Elite VSX-82TXS for about 3months, I had almost given up hope of getting either a replacement of getting my broken receiver fixed.  Well good news arrived earlier in the week to see that the service center finally got my receiver replacment from Pioneer.

Pioneer Elite VSX-82TXS Status Update

Well anyone that has been following my on going struggle to get my receiver updated, you know what torture this has been for me.  I loved the receiver as it did everything I wanted for a reasonable price.  So onto the bad news.  About 2 and a half weeks ago, I got some bad news from the service center performing the update on my receiver.  After about a month in their possession, they finally fessed up to bricking the receiver.  Basically they told me that my Pioneer Elite VSX-82TXS was now a $1,100 paper weight.

Pioneer Officially Announces Firmware Update

Pioneer finally announces it has issues with the following receivers: VSX-72TXV, VSX-74TXVi, VSX-81TXV, VSX-82TXS, VSX-84TXSi, VSX-9110TXV-K.  This coming in the form of an email to those consumers who registered their receiver with Pioneer Electronics.  This is good news for the owners of any of the above mentioned receivers, but being as there are only 26 authorized centers that can provide the update, getting your receiver there maybe the biggest hassle. Status on VSX82-TXS firmware update

I just got off the phone with Pioneer Electronics and they said that they would be covering the shipping the nearest service center.  They said that UPS would be by to pick it up in the next couple days.  I hope to have it back early to mid next week to test the difference.  I’ll keep the blog updated on the status of my VSX-82TXS.
