The Matrix - HD-DVD

Well the Matrix Trilogy finally made it’s debut on May 22.  This is probably one of the most anticipated title releases to date for HD DVD.  I pre-ordered the Matrix Ultimate Edition because I wanted to get the Animatrix movies.  However these were not done in HD, which is a bit of a disappointment..

Pole to Pole, Planet Earth - HD-DVD

Finally got a chance to start watching this series.  I didn’t have a chance to catch it on TV, so here is my chance.  The BBC put together this series which shows the wonderful diversity of the animals and vegetation.

Children of Men - HD-DVD

I finally got a chance to watching Children of Men on HD DVD the past weekend.  Universal again opted to make this new release a Combo Format(HD DVD/DVD) which makes it more expensive.  I had been holding off on this purchase, but with Amazon’s free Prime shipping for a month, made it worth a purchase.

New Toshiba HD-DVD 1.5 Firmware Update

Toshiba just announced a new firmware update for the following HD-DVD player models: HD-XA2, HD-A20, HD-A2, HD-A2W, and HD-D2 .

In one of the biggest catalog announcements yet for HD DVD, Warner Home Video has set a May 22 arrival for two extensive box set collections of the blockbuster ‘Matrix’ film.

The revolutionary sci-fi trilogy, which grossed over $600 million combined in the U.S. alone, has long been rumored to be in the planning stages for next-gen release.
