In one of the biggest catalog announcements yet for HD DVD, Warner Home Video has set a May 22 arrival for two extensive box set collections of the blockbuster ‘Matrix’ film.

The revolutionary sci-fi trilogy, which grossed over $600 million combined in the U.S. alone, has long been rumored to be in the planning stages for next-gen release. Thought to be a “killer app” — the kind of trojan horse title that would entice non-early adopters into the high-def fold — Warner is already gearing up for one of its biggest-ever HD DVD releases.

The first of the James Bond series to leap into the next generation.  It seems only fitting that BD would throw out their newest and some would say a refreshing look at Bond.  Shaking up the stale figure of Bond is now Daniel Craig.  My only other viewing of his acting abilities was in Layer Cake, so to me it was a big leap of faith to go with Craig to pull off the James Bond persona.

When there are a shortage of movies to watch, what do you do?  Well if we were talking about SD DVDs, your options would be 1.) rewatch some old movies or 2.) do nothing.  With HD-DVDS being region free, you can import any title.  This wasn’t the case with regular DVDs due to region encoding.

Finally got time to start watching some more movies.  The first on my new selection is Layer Cake.  Like a lot of movies, this probably would have passed most viewers by except for the fact that it’s main actor just happend to have another big release the same day.  I’m talking about Daniel Craig and Casino Royale.
