Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl - Blu-ray
Pirates of the Caribbean certainly was a blessing for Walt Disney when it first came out. Highly anticipated and hyped by the media. Well I for one wasn’t caught up in the Pirates of the Caribbean craze and basically had not interest in seeing the movie. I felt that since it was being distributed by Disney, it wasn’t going to be worth the $8 to watch in the theaters.
So now we fast forward a few years after it’s release in theaters and now Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl makes it debut on Blu-ray. The Curse of the Black Pearl stars Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, Orlando Bloom, and Keira Knightley. So basically the movie stars John Depp as Capt. Jack Sparrow as a bumbling pirate getting into and out of trouble. Sparrow is looking to get back his ship the Black Pearl from Capt. Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush). Well of course this gets Bloom and Knightley involved in the quest.
Picture Quality: 4.75/5
What’s more to say than Curse of the Black Pearl is absolutely amazing in terms of transfer. Almost perfect thanks to AVC video codec. The picture quality will defintely wow the neighbors.
Audio Quality: 5/5
Disney obviously opted for a great Uncompressed PCM audio track on this movie. Well with a 5/5 rating, it is no question as to how it got this rating. Get ready to crank up the surround sound system.
Conclusions:
While the story wasn’t bad, the movie itself is extremely LONG. There could easily been about 30mins cut out to make the movie flow a bit faster. Picture Quality and Audio Quality alone make this a must have.
