New Pioneer Elite VSX-92TXH Purchased

Well my Pioneer Elite VSX-TXH receiver is here.  For those of you who know, I’ve been running a Pioneer Elite VSX-82TXS receiver to power my Home Theater.  With my accumulation of Blu-ray movies that consist of DTS-HD Master audio, I was in need of a receiver to handle it.   Since no players currently decode DTS-HD Master audio internally, the only method to getting it is to purchase 1.) Player that will send out the audio as Bitstream and have 2.) Receiver capable of decoding it.

Getting the receiver setup was a breeze since it is very similar (almost identical) in setup to the VSX-82.  The noticeable difference is during the MCACC setup.  There were a couple of new sound tests added.  The most shocking of all is that auto MCACC calibrated my speakers to near 100% accuracy.  I say near in that, yes the speaker levels are all 100% dead on, I’m sure there are other settings I could tweak to make it even better.

I immediately hooked up my Toshiba A35 HD DVD player to the unit and was immediately getting Dolby TrueHD from 300, Dolby Digital Plus with Transformers, and DTS-HD Master with Terminator 2 (import).  I had been used to listening to the internal PCM conversion of these codecs before (minus the DTS Master), and must say that the Bitstream audio sounds much more rich, full, and robust compared to the internal decoded audio.  Some may say that is my mind making me feel better about my purchase, but I’m not the only one who has commented to this feeling.

I hope to have a much more in-depth review of this receiver in the near future.
